When one person ended up in an English jail, they discovered things could get even worse: the prison had terrible coffee and food! So, upon their release the next day, they mailed police officers lottery winnings for the better coffee.
Thank You, You Little Star
While we don't know the details of the apparent criminal's lockdown, we do know one thing: they did not enjoy the taste of the coffee. A few days after releasing the suspect, the Cambridgeshire Police received a seemingly polite card in the mail. While it looked like a well-deserved thank you card at first, the officers soon realized it was something else entirely!
The note came on a beautiful card: a glossy, dark blue note, covered in small, gold stars. Then, in beautiful script, the outside read, "Thank you, you little star." Sadly, the interior message was not as lovely as the exterior design. Inside, the handwritten note read, "Dear Police, the coffee and food was s---, therefore go get a coffe [sic]." To pay for the said coffee, the sender attached two scratched-off lottery tickets. The winnings? Just enough for a couple of cups of tasty coffee - $11.73.
Of course, soon enough, the police had something to say!
The Police Clap Back

Within a few days of receiving the note, the Cambridgeshire Police Department commented on the situation on Facebook. "We take all feedback seriously and that includes the food and drink served in our cells," the police officers wrote in a post. "Thank you to the author of this card who took the time to review their recent stay with us at Parkside, and even bought us a couple of scratch cards in the hope we'd use the winnings to purchase some decent coffee." Then, the post quickly took a sarcastic tone. "We'll keep the coffee as it is for now in the hope you won't visit again and donate the winnings to a local charity," they finished.
Soon enough, many members of the community also got in the fun! On the post, they recommending local coffee houses they could go spend their money at. In the end, the department claimed it would head to the coffee house that had "the best value for the taxpayer."
Here's to hoping that the would-be criminal stays out of the Cambridgeshire Police Department's jail. Or they'll have to drink quite a bit more of that coffee they hate!
