There are around 70 acres of beautifully maintained grounds and formal lawns on the property, in addition to the rebuilt Gate Lodge. The house of F. A. Seiberling, the co-founder of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, has been designated a National Heritage Monument due to its significance to the country.
From 1912 to 1915, F. A. Seiberling and his wife, Gertrude Penfield Seiberling, had the mansion established. To pay homage to the site’s former purpose and the deserted stone quarries that can be seen on the boundaries of the Averill Dairy estate, the Aveills gave their “American Country Estate” the name Stan Hywet.
