Ethel Merman – Girl Crazy

Ethel Merman used to perform in a number of clubs as a torch singer at the start of her career. Until 1930, when she replaced Ruth Etting in the film “Follow The Leader” by Paramount. One of her most epoch-making roles was as Mama Rose in Jule Styne’s 1959 musical “Gypsy.”

Sadly the “Annie Get Your Gun” star left us on February 15, 1984, after serving the theatre for five decades.
