Carol Channing – Hello Dolly

Carol Channing, a Broadway star and national icon, won four Tony Awards, including one for lifetime achievement. In the year 1964, she gained fame on Broadway for her sustainable portrayal of the meddling matchmaker Dolly Gallagher Levi in the musical “Hello, Dolly!” and for her role as Lorelei Lee in the original 1949 musical “Gentleman Prefer Blondes.”

Channing later won the Golden Globe Award as a film actress. Her notable film roles also include “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” In 1981, she was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame. She retired from the theatre just two years before she passed away on January 15, 2019.
