Tom Araya took a risk when he joined the newly formed band Slayers in 1981. He first worked as a respiratory therapist to earn a living, which he used to fund the group’s first album, “Show No Mercy,” in 1983. He left his job and decided to focus full-time on the group.
Araya, along with King, remained the only two original founding members through the years. He has also made a few TV appearances, including “Hairmetal Shotgun Zombie Massacre: The Movie” in 2014. Araya was an active member of Slayers up until the group was dissolved in 2019, and has since focused on his personal life.
