As a high schooler, MLB star David Wright was honored as both the 2001 Gatorade Virginia High School Player of the Year and the 2001 Virginia All-State Player of the Year. He spent three seasons in the minors, splitting his time between the St. Lucie Mets, the Binghamton Mets, and the Norfolk Tides.
Wright broke into the big leagues in 2004 as a regular starter at third base. He has been selected to the All-Star team seven times and has earned two Silver Sluggers. Wright owns the Mets’ all-time marks for runs batted in, doubles, overall bases, walks, runs gained, and several other categories.
