Joe Mauer – $100 Million

When Joe Mauer received an 8-year, $184 million worth contract with the Minnesota Twins in March 2010, he emerged as the most paid pitcher in baseball history. While studying, Mauer showed off his incredible skill in three different activities at Cretin-Derham Hall.

As a multi-sport athlete in high school, he contributed to the baseball, basketball, and football teams, but it was in baseball where he truly shined, hitting .605 in his senior year and striking out just once in four years. This achievement, coupled with his excellent performance in Minnesota, allowed Mauer to join the United States Junior National Team. He played for the team for two seasons (1998-2000).
