As a starter, Halladay made a name for himself with the Philadelphia Phillies and the Toronto Blue Jays. He was given the moniker “Doc” by the late Tom Cheek, the voice of the Toronto Blue Jays, in honor of the famous Wild West gunslinger of the same name.
