Underage Cooking Learners In The State Of Illinois Are Permitted To Consume Alcoholic Beverages

Because pupils in their early years of cooking school must understand how to taste wine, the state legislature in 2012 passed a law with the catchy nickname “Sip and Spit.” It makes it legal for culinary understudies under the age of 21 to taste alcoholic drinks. The rationale behind this law was that kids need to know how to taste wine throughout their early educational years.

The legislation requires them to be at least 18 years old and engaged in a culinary course at an approved school. It wasn’t a problem for those in Missouri who were interested in pursuing a career in the culinary arts.
