Fairfield House is a historic home located in the Newbridge neighborhood of Bath, England. Haile Selassie I, Emperor of Ethiopia, lived there during his five years in captivity. When he finally settled back in Ethiopia, he gave the building to the town of Bath in 1958 to be used as a retirement home for the elderly.
The two-story Italianate home on Kelston Road in the city’s northwest suburbs dates back to approximately 1850 and was likely constructed by James Wilson. After Mrs. Campbell-White died in 1936, Haile Selassie I purchased the property and had it refurbished during a brief stay at the Bath Spa Hotel.
