Burt Reynolds had a brief sports career before wearing his renowned mustache and appearing in films like “100 Rifles” and “Deliverance.” The legendary actor played as a halfback for Florida State University, where he was highly regarded after making it to the First Team All-State in high school.
The multi-award winner received a college scholarship and had a strong first season for the club. Then he endured many knee injuries, one of them being a vehicle accident that forced him to miss out on two years of school and football practice. However, Reynolds later did return to the pitch in a 1977 short football movie called “Semi-Tough.”
