Sam Hunt was on the verge of becoming a professional football player. He had played in high school and college and was also immensely talented. Hunt played collegiate football at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he passed for 1,905 yards and eleven rushing touchdowns.

The “Take Your Time” hitmaker even had trials with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, but unfortunately, the coaches were not impressed. So, Hunt chose to pursue a career in music, which he says he never imagined he’d do. He has since penned other successes, including co-writing Kenny Chesney’s hit “Come Over,” which won him an ASCAP Award.
