Audra MacDonald – Porgy and Bess

Audra McDonald’s roof-raising soprano voice and expressive stage presence made her an essential figure on Broadway in the late 20th and mid-21st century. Her notable TV credits include “Wit,” “A Raisin in the Sun,” and “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill,” all of which brought her Emmy Award nominations.
In 1996, she debuted in Hollywood with “Seven Servants” as an opera singer, and in 2021, she played Barbara Siggers Franklin in her biopic “Respect.” McDonald joined other Broadway stars, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Idina Menzel, Josh Groban, Kristin Chenoweth, and Laura Benanti, in 2018 to record “Singing You Home” to aid families parted at borders.
