Angela Lansbury is an Irish-British and American entertainer who exhibited her acting aptitudes in several films, theater, and TV roles. With a very long period in media outlets, her career spans around eight decades, starting from 1942. Even though Lansbury became an international household name through films, it was the Broadway stage that furnished her with the roles that caught Hollywood’s eye.
Lansbury’s first Broadway role was in 1964 in a short-lived Sondheim musical, “Anyone Can Whistle.” In 1966, she won a significant fan following in the titular role of Jerry Herman’s “Mame,” a show that ran for 1508 versions and brought her first Tony Award.
