With a brilliant career of over seven decades, Julie Andrews is an English actress, singer, and author. Her Broadway debut was in 1954’s “The Boy Friend” before her feature film debut with “Mary Poppins” in 1964. The titular role became a fan favorite and won her an Academy Award for Best Actress.
Andrews has been nominated for Tony Awards thrice, and in 2000, she was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II. Interestingly, many of her hit movies had her second husband, Blake Edwards, in the director’s chair. Andrews ranked 59th in 2002’s 100 Greatest Britons list. Her daughters Emma and Amy followed in her steps to also become actresses.
