What is up with people going to Vegas only to catch some shut-eye? The party city, with its free-flowing alcohol, might be responsible for everyone dozing off. Alcohol is a known sedative that depresses the central nervous system. That leads to drowsiness and relaxation, allowing people to fall asleep faster.

Alcohol also affects the REM cycle, so a person’s sleep might be constantly interrupted. Not eating before drinking can cause the alcohol to take effect faster, so a good meal before drinking is a great way to combat lethargy. Staying hydrated with water is also an excellent tip for those that don’t want sleep to overtake them.
