The rock band Sonic Youth was formed in 1981 by Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, and Lee Ranaldo. The former two were lovers as well. They married in 1984 and released 16 albums with the band, the last of which was “The Eternal,” released in 2009.
However, the duo later separated in 2011 after 27 years of togetherness. In her 2015 memoir, Gordon wrote all about their relationship and the ups and downs that came along. Their split marked the end of the band as well, after which Gordon went on to release two solo albums. The ex-couple has a daughter between them, who was born in 1994.
