Mariano Rivera was an MLB player affectionately dubbed “Mo” or “Sandman” by the New York Yankees fanbase. The year 1995 marked the beginning of his career, and he finally called it quits in 2013. Interestingly, he never switched the club. Though he mostly served as a reliever for the Yankees, Rivera has been widely considered their best closer.
He has won the World Series five times and made the All-Star team thirteen times. Rivera has also completed more games and recorded more stops than any player in MLB history. In 2019, he became the first player in Baseball Hall of Fame history to be nominated by a unanimous vote.
