The former MLB pitcher, who went by the nickname “Big Unit,” was a legend in the sport of American baseball. Johnson called his quits after 22 years in the major leagues. He starred in both baseball and basketball before he even reached high school.
While playing for the Trojans, his throwing skills caught the eye of coach Rod Dedeaux. The MLB draft of 1985 marked the beginning of Johnson’s meteoric rise to baseball success. He started his career for Montreal Expos three years later.
