Verlander joined the Detroit Tigers on a 7-year, $180 million deal in 2013. He made $30 million in wages and sponsorships between 2017 and 2018. That put him in the ranks of the world’s top paid sportsmen. He inked a $66 million contract with the Houston Astros for two years in March of 2019.
