Hearst Castle – 60,645 sq ft

In 1919, William Randolph Hearst began construction on a magnificent mansion on farmland that overlooked the town of San Simeon. By 1947, the hilltop compound had expanded to include a twin-tower main structure, three luxurious boarding houses, and 127 acres of landscaped grounds, fountains, and pools.

Something eye-catching is the Neptune Pool which represents a photographer’s dream because of its iridescent blue water. Hearst’s room is located on the third level of “Casa Grande,” the main house of the mountaintop property in San Simeon. The Castle is perched 1,600 feet over sea level, giving it a breathtaking panorama that stretches to the Pacific.
