Born into a sporty family, Uzo Aduba has no qualms referring to herself as one. Obi, her brother, played hockey professionally for six years, and she was a track athlete at Boston University. While at the institution, she also studied classical voice, which led to her preliminary stage career.
Aduba became famous when she was nominated for a Helen Hayes Award for her theatrical acting abilities. This was for her performance in “Xhosa Translations.” She would go on to become famous for her performance in “Orange Is the New Black,” winning two Emmy Awards and becoming just the second performer to do so in both the comedy and drama divisions.
