If you’ve watched Ed O’Neill play his role as Al Bundy in the Fox Network sitcom “Married… With Children” or in “Modern Family,” you may believe he’s truly an athlete. That’s actually correct; before he became a famous actor, O’Neill was a football player.
The legendary actor began playing in high school and followed his passion to Ohio University, where he won a football scholarship. O’Neil later signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers but was released just before the season began. His football failure was a plot point in the sitcom, and he even persuaded Steelers icon Terry Bradshaw to appear in one episode.
