Sutton Foster – Thoroughly Modern Millie

Two-time Tony Award-winning actress, dancer, and singer Sutton Foster started her Broadway career while on a national tour of “Grease” as a substitute. In 1998, she worked in “What the World Needs Now” at the Old Globe Theatre before she started touring with “Les Misérables” as Eponine Thenardier. She then understudied the same part on Broadway in 2000.

Foster’s best chance came in 2000 when she was projected in “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” another musical about a 1967 film revolving around an independent lady in the ’20s. As many stage actors do, Foster appeared in films, too, making her debut in 1989 with “Mr. Terbillion’s Ambition.”
