Chita Rivera arguably remains most famous for her lively Broadway musical performance, like “West Side Story” and “Chicago.” Rivera’s first introduction to acting was when she performed in a production organized by her brother in the basement of their home.
For her role of Anita in “West Side Story,” she earned a Tony Award nomination and eventually won the same in 1984 for her role as Anna in “The Rink.” In 1993, she made a comeback on Broadway and gave her award-winning performance in “Kiss of the Spider Woman.” She is still active and has not thought of retirement, much to her fans’ delight.
